| My Bio |
The Damascus United Methodist Church has an impressive music program under the direction of Rev. Walter G. Edmonds. It includes a youth orchestra and chorus: the Charles Wesley Singers and the Academy of St. Cecilia Orchestra. The Charles Wesley Singers is believed to be the only church ensemble bearing the name of the great 18th century hymn author.
For their summer 2007 tour celebrating the 300th anniversary of Wesley's birth, they've commissioned a 40-minute composition for chorus and orchestra using Charles Wesley poetry. I'll include old and new tunes, with several being sung in traditional Sacred Harp style (hollow square and all). I've written a Sacred Harp style setting of Wesley's Come, let us anew our journey pursue for possible inclusion.
This PDF version can be freely downloaded, printed, duplicated, shared, performed, recorded, and broadcast. (If you want to sell it, we have to talk.) I would be trying it out at some "new traditions" singings, but hyperacusis prevents me from being around any loud sound (including joyful noise). I've been away from singings for several years, but hope to be able to return some day. I really miss it!
